Lately it seems that many potentially informative threads have gone off the proverbial rails when members have made slurs against certain racial and ethnic groups. (e.g. Russians). For me, these comments degrade the whole forum and need to be nipped in the bud pronto. Yes, I realize that the mods are busy people. I wouldn’t want to see this forum become so ‘politically correct’ that folks are afraid to express their opinions but c’mon folks, let’s take the high road and leave prejudices out of the posts.

ethnicity doesn;t matter when someone is breaking the law, i agree with you knuguy, racial profiling should be discouraged..... i know plenty of russians, chinese/japanese folks that fish legally, and are great people to fish with

Loogans, Loogons, Lagoon, what ever you guys call em, come from many different cultures and nationalities, it's crazy to generalize and it only ends with someone looking like a fool and missing out on something good, the fool is not the victim. Lets see a crackdown?? This is why I don't fish for salmon or steelhead, too many emotions, not enough fishing. :D

this is internet ..... it can go the other way around .... my previous post were deleted right away (friend of mods/quick action).... were as my intention is to help other fisherman, self defense point of view but It can go the other way around ..... Mods are doing their jOb .... I checked the post (captain america drop on your head) ... takes a while to get deleted .... mods are busy too .... my advice is posts wisely (i made a mistake) .... whatever we posts were responsible for whatever the results with be +/- .... risks is, we fish with friends, family, other people ..... these other people we know of might see what other people posts and might think it's insulting enough .... sooner or later they will get involved, more crimes later on, it won't stop, we don't like that. Get a good discipline, get involved in other sports out there, train hard and make fishing one of your sports, be safe.

ive fished with russian and asian people, but they grew up in canada and were the same person on the inside any of us else are. the part that makes my blood boil is people who just came to the country and feel that they can destroy our fishery.... thats what ticks people off the most

Education can bring change the same way we are educating ourselves about foumr ettiquette. If persons were to educate themselves on legal implications of thier actions they would I am sure think twice.

every one is entitled to freedom of speech, you can say " woman are bad drivers" but you cannot say " you are a bad driver because you are a woman"

That is nothing compared to the idiots that have lived here all their lives and are destroying the fishery in the very same way...

They should know better!!!

Honestly if they are coming to our country, they have no reason not to know our rules and regulations. There is no excuse because they are new comers. They are coming to our country they have to follow our rules, period. No excuses.

As a russian, I can tell you that YES, it is true (unfortunately) that we can be ruthless assholes when it comes to nature and fishing. It makes me extremely angry when I see my own people behave like savages when it comes to free salmon. To be honest though, when I first came here 15 years ago,we were the same ( I was also very young to care lol ). But by being TOLD by others around us that we cannot do certain things here in Canada when it comes to fishing, made us learn very quickly the laws and regulations. From our first few experiences, we bought licenses, and followed the regs soon as we were properly informed as to what they were, and more importantly, the huge penalties they can carry.

I have fished since I was 5 years old, and in Canada since I came here 15 years ago....and I have seen many, many of the mentioned ethnicity doing the very same things we were doing when we first came and heard that salmon are just piling up in the rivers. However, I think that because of my nature, I respect the fish and environment, I stopped that behavior years and years ago.

I think that racial profiling on the forums is not good, but inevitable. Also, having lived in Russia for 9 years, Its an ENTIRELY different mentality and enforcement when it comes to wildlife. While there are officers just like the MNR, there are "laws"....99% of the "anglers" do not care and do not follow those laws simply beacause there is LACK of enforcement, and the corruption is rampant.

If you can bribe your way out of hitting an innocent 5year old girl because you were driving extremely drunk...and make it her family's fault (true story, was on the national news in Russia and happens very often)...well then let me tell you no one gives two F***S about a fish.

Sadly, some people carry that mentality over with them when they come here, and I think that is just WRONG and makes my blood boil...but unless we educate them and more importantly FINE them ( I honestly dont know any snagger that will care if the MNR makes them feel "bad" for the fish that was going to die anyways) but they will certainly care about having their equipment repossessed, and a large fine.

I learn my lesson when I pass the border/bridge, fish made me too busy, got ticket $300.00, sucks .....  took it home, fried & ate it ... meat is not that good ..... plus contaminants .... not worth it. Catching them is fun .... your reel spins fast .....rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr , but I rather catch em in deeper water, more challenging.

Don't care the colour of your skin or what accent you have. We all bleed red.

There are many out there, it doesn't matter their ethnicity. Some have good ethics and some don't.

We still all bleed red.

Thanks Buddy. Don't know if I mentioned my love of reggae when we fished. But I saw Marley live about 20 times back in the day, also Peter Tosh, maybe 12 times and the Yellowman.

Old time raggae. Gonna check out more of this Jr Reid.

yep  I don't think so but I remember u telling me about the bob marley concert.  A little fyi during the 60's a lot of reggae artists came to Toronto to record and some of the best recordings come from this era... a lot of it was never listened to by the masses and were unknown artists but if u dig they are still out there. I have a couple cds that were a Christmas present I really enjoy them as the music does not classify itself it is just good music with no particular sound rhyme or reason...

a little off the main topic but hey...

Ontario Place Forum. That's where I saw them all, in the 70's and 80's ,

It doesn't exist anymore, but there were many great concerts there.
