why dont you try shimano clarus 13 ft, or 11'6' they held pretty good for me last year with all the salmon and steelheading i did, i have the13 foot one but even with that length i find it light still and i could fish a 10 hour day without any problems, just my 2 cents,

3pcs- no good. I dont like the feel of them. I have only tried 2 rods that were 3 piece. I found they felt completely different.

Although new to steel heading ,thought I would share my opinions..
First purchase was the Clarus 13' worked well for the heavier leaders and landing salmon, but
As I went to lighter leads, 8,6, and especially 4lb, I ended up losing the fish on break offs..
Purchased the 13'6" guide select, reasonable entry level price and rod, and it was night and day..
Completely different feel and my landing ratio skyrocketed:)
I haven't had the chance to try higher end rods, but one day I'm sure I will..
Hope my 2 cents helped a little

Picked up the streamside I linked above yesterday. Sweet rod for sure. Got a Fenwick hmx on the way too so I should be good for a long while.

the only streamside worth buying is the tranq. If it was me trying to get the best bang for the buck, i would buy a raven im8. A little more money but it will last a lifetime, it can fish all water conditions.

it cant be the same blank, its way to light. I believe the tranq blank is the same blank used for the 1st gen kingpin rods. I don't know about the steelhead

The first gen kp rod Is identical to the steelheader custom, just with a different label. The difference in weight between the tranq and fs 1302 is only the heavy rubber butt cap. I've owned both and think it's the same, but I could be wrong
