I am looking for a new bag to carry with me while I chase and slay steel on the river. Since I'm new at this, and with so many options, I am overwhelmed.

What are you using?

What brands do you recommend?

Hip or sling back?

(Keep in mind I carry a lotta stuff.......cant help it.....its a female curse :P )

I am looking to spend around $100-$150 but I would go up to $200....if it comes in pink ;)  Below are a few of the styles I have been looking at.

I appreciate the help!

advice #1 don't buy fishing pack, way over priced, there are many running and hunting ones under 60 bucks. #2 use good old back pack and  clip your hemostat, leader and small hook box in your jacket. rest you can grab when you have to do major rerigging.

my waist pouch is so big and heavy now, i have to wear it like a backpack. might as well just used a bag pack and just put 3 items in the waist pouch.

i use a hunting/fishing backpack and have all my stuff in there, when i find a good hole, i put it on the ground and fish, i want to move, just put it on my back, no need in having a pack on you while you are fishing, 1 reason, the fish see you better, another reason its annoying and messes you up, not to mention if you have a lot of stuff like me, it can get quite heavy and uncomfortable, if you need to re-tie then walk to shore and do so, not like you're gonna do it while standing in knee deep water anyways.

backpack will keep your back warmer on cold weathers but weight is not distributed, all on your back, you might lose your balance.

sling and hip pack is alright, sling you can switch to the front or back, same with hip pack.

If you worry about spending too much, there is a computer store that sells these for under $60 both.

if you go for the back pack get one with the hip straps, distribute the weight over your hips and easier on the shoulders and back

why not just put the back pack on the shore in front of where you're fishing? you guys are hilarious trying to make up ways to distribute weight evenly, yada, yada, yada, just put it on the ground! you guys should try it!

just more stuff to trip over while fighting a fish, or what if you're not standing on ground and actually using your waders fishing in the water on a big trib?

thats what I'm saying, i always have waders after all who fishes for stele head from shore? I'm saying you're standing in water, put your backpack down on the ground while your in the river, need to re-tie? come back to shore and do so,i fight the fish while standing in the river, if you can not carry a backpack for 10 minutes, you should be at the gym and not fishing, toughen up!
