After a couple hours of fallen tree whacking and ice blocks climbing, finally finding some open fishable water was a win it itself. Seeing my float drop after a half hour fishing it was a bonus. Just a little one but I'll take it for sure. I got out at 1, finally got on some decent water by 3 and fished the run for an hour or so. Only the one hit.

I suspect with +2 the next two days in the east, it is only going to get better for the weekend.  Persistence pays. (If you can tell where this is, shh)

Was east yesterday.. One of the craziest experiences Ive ever seen fishing... Hooked my only fish of the day, in the only semi open hole on the river, as I was fighting it jumped onto the ice opposite to the side i was fishing and its continuous flopping while i tried to pull it back to water broke my leader... Myself not one who likes to see something lay helpless, prepared to find away across the river to help the fish into the water... It had been about 15 seconds since the leader broke and the fished had stopped flopping.. I hadnt noticed earlier but a wood duck was nestled under a log 10 feet from the fish. It got up and waddled to the fish, and used its beak to help the fish back into the water. I was absolutely amazed with this act of kindness by the duck.. Whether it really knew the fish was in trouble, or just felt like playing with it and turned out to be helping ill never know, but really was one of the coolest nature encounters ive seen first hand, and made an unproductive day of fishing pretty cool.

Cool story, pretty sure the duck would have been trying to eat the fish, but cool happening nonetheless.

I wonder if the xmas tree on the bend full of ornaments (roes, bobber, hooks line & beads is still fully decorated) can't miss it unless covered with ice.
