Can you cast anything other than flies/micro surface poppers with a fly rod?

Now this may seem like a stupid question but.......

you can throw the marabou jigs as well, but the thing to remember with fly rods, you aren't casting the fly, you're casting the line since the fly is so light

Sure you can, no rule that says you can't, but it is harder if you use heavier baits, be careful you don't go to heavy or you could break the rod.

Chuck and Duck is a popular fishing method in the states where no fly line is used.

that's true, but even the micro jig on the marabou fly is almost weightless, I find it that when I roll cast it, it barely lifts up the surface,,, eventhough I only go 6 feet of tapered leader as opposed to using the floating trout worm the line and leader unfolds quite nice, makes me feel like I know a little bit what im doing!!! but so far those are my observations on the stuff I attach on my fly setup!

I wont bite...hoping this is mere satire...
Breathtakingly idiotic either way...

It was probably kinda stupid, but I caught lots of small specks as a teenager in the spring using a worm on a fly rod.

There are actually a good number of guys who use spinners down south, so it does work, but there's really no need for it.
