The hole saw shown had a hole on opposite sides that allowed me to insert a bolt slightly smaller than the one that came with the drill. I just put a U-bolt thru a piece of wood about 9" long i.e about 3" longer than the 6" bore of the auger. It fits loosely on the shaft and be easily removed for storage.

I tested it on about 10" of ice and it went thru easily using a DeWalt 18V. The problem I had was the drill coming off the hole saw even though the shaft on the saw is hex. The chuck on the drill is tightened by hand rather than a key.

Great idea. Along similar lines, I love using my impact wrench with a 19mm socket, on my scissor jack that came with my vehicle. Free electric jack :D

Is that wood on there to stop the auger blade from falling into the hole? If so that's a good idea, I know a few guys that have had auger blades go straight into the lake after their chuck let go. Typically happens at the worst time possible right when the auger makes the last jolt to break through the last bit of ice.

How did you attach the drive to the end of the auger? Just a matter of luck that the drive you had fit in the hole in the auger? I'm going to try this, maybe a screw clamp will help to secure it.

This be it. You will want to add a 9" disk or bar below the wing nut as the adapter tends to fall out of the chuck

Thx, King. I didn't know about that device. Was it in with the ice augers at CT? I used a hole saw that happened to fit.

Does that answer your question, ST?

I've seen pix of the disk used to prevent the auger from falling thru. I must say it looks slicker than my piece of wood---my wood has that Red Green look!. I'm more interested in functionality than looks, though. The wood removes very easily for stashing the auger away it takes up less space on the toboggan or at home.

Canadian Tire is sold out, even the 2 stores that says they're in stock, don't have any. They said it's an old product that's still in their system from 2012.

ST

I bought a set of hole saws at H Hardware for another project for less than $20.

King

The wood doesn't hit my shins because it's too short--just a couple of inches longer than the dia of the auger. It's also a loos fit, so if it hets anything it just spins on the auger. But if the discs are easily removed and cheap I'd get one. I'm a bit puzzled though: I thought you just bought the adapter at Wallys or wherever. I I didn't think they had the discs as well, either as a separate item or part of the same kit.
