Ya I was checking them out today, definitely considering joining it. Saw a few off people today, I'll be doing the same thing next week at the fishing and hunting show if anyone is coming.

I spent most of my time at the show hanging with the dudes by the fly booths.

Does anyone know of or belong to a fly club in orono? Thinking about joining

The Orono club is called the Pine Ridge Club.  You should speak to Al Smith or Al Newsome.  PM me for their email addys.

I guess you were at the Show on Sunday, 'cause I didn't see any new female fishers on Saturday!

I didn't see her either, maybe she was avoiding us, LOL. Also, I believe one of the Al's isn't part of the club anymore, could be wrong about that though.

Al Newsome is the past president, so maybe he has become a regular/sometime attendee.  I have sent Al Smith's email to FisherGirl.

hey I didn't see you either!

Classic Drifter, that's called a planer, they will run you about 2-5 grand depending where you get it. I contemplated getting into that hobby for a while a couple years ago, but before you even get the blank done you're looking at the cost of the planer (plus a second rough planer), shipping tonkin from China, buying a rod wrapper, buying resin, and an oven if you aren't allowed to use the one at home! If you want to get into it joining a club is probably the best route, imo.

talk about bankruptcy on the planer,,, waaaaayyyy out of my expected price,, is that the Scarborough club one that has it? that's killer, but I thought it will just be a couple of hundred for the planer considering Its from china, LOL! but that thing is pretty neat,, ill probably just make one without the planer from my bamboo from back home,,, that was the original plan anyway!! thanks for the info Christopher K!!

A couple years ago I saw one for sale for $400, came very close to buying it. There are some guys that make them, you could probably get someone to make one for you. Now that I think about it I think they're actually more like $800-$2k.
