I had two living socials for ice fishing Barrie - simcoe.

we have our own rod and baits etc.

We did the first one last weekend, all the huts are either 50-80 FOW and can not be moved. I think we were in about 60 FOW. 9-1PM we got some herring on minnows.

We were hoping for some perch or whities or lakers

Going back next weekend, should we try to get one of the furthest out huts 75-80 FOW?

minnows?

Thanks.

Herring are out of season on Simcoe. Have been for several years. But with the numbers being caught I think their numbers are up and hopefully the MNR opens them up again.

Maybe deeper water..."deeper huts" you'll have to hold your breath for a long time...

Depending on where you go on Simcoe, perch are being caught anywhere between 12-45 feet...

Whities are being caught from 45-80 feet. I even got one in 29 fow a few weeks ago.

Haven't been out for the lakers yet, but from the reports I've been getting 80 feet +...

The herring are everywhere....
