Real quick question for you all ( maybe ). What is the general consensus of these rods?

I am just getting into fly fishing and looking for a "good" rod for a "good" price and both of these companies have some reasonable priced rods.

I have been looking at the T.F.O : signature series and professional series,  9 foot 5 weight.

Echo : solo, carbon series. 9 foot 5 weight

I would love to hear from anyone using or has used any of the above rods. I am also open to any input on other brands around that price.

Thanks for taking a look and helping me out.

I personally have a TFO BVK 9 weight. It is an amazing rod. Great fast action and super easy to get a fly out. It is one of the best rods I have used.

I know it is not the specific TFO you are after but it is the one I have experience with. I would really reccomend TFO.

Never held one myself but Allen is supposed to make some great stuff. Check out Greys as well.

Thanks!

You could always check out LL Bean. They have great rods with reviews right on their website. I recently got into LL Bean and the customer service (let alone products) have been incredible. With a NO QUESTIONS asked lifetime warranty, you can't go wrong. Also well priced!

I own a TFO BVK 6 wt as well - great rod. Was my first decent rod I purchased, and I love it! Highly recommended!

x2 on the greys suggestion(I have a gr50 10' 8wt that will likely become my surf rod), also cant say anything negative about echo (besides how theyve started building the grips... ugly) . Dont know much about tfo but the review are generally great and most of their rods are designed my prolific fly anglers (lefty, meiser, pallot , kinny)

If you can get the opportunity to fish these rods side by side you will have a better understanding of their pros and cons and be able to make a better choice.

Also being "new" to fly fishing I would suggest go some where, where you can try multiple rods.

Just my 2 cents.

I use TFO rods and love them.  I own the professional series in 7wt, 5wt and 8wt.  Great rod and lifetime warranty.

Which reminds me that I need to send my 7 wt back.  snapped the tip on my last outing.  You can't go wrong with TFO IMO.

I`d also recommend the Greys rods for quality and price and they cast great..

Prior to being pro staffed with Hardy Greys (yes I might be a bit biased here) I used and guided with TFO signature series rods and was happy with them based on the performance and the price. they`re nothing fancy with no bells and whistles but they cast nice and do the job...

Just do yourself a favor and go to reputable fly shop so you get the best advice on the right rod for your needs..
