I use 10lb mainline (silver thread) and a 8lb leader. Don't really like using a lighter leader b/c of snags u can garentee the leader is going to break. Get 8lb leader in the thinest diameter u can find. 10lb mainline is good for steelhead n salmon. U can use lighter mainline but the bigger fish will take u forever to land. Good luck

I use 10-12lb main with 4/6/8lb fluro leader, depending on conditions and type of fish.

 

I use 8lb fluro abrazx for salmon in the fall

 

6lb fluro regular for steelhead in the spring

 

4lb if its crystal clear water and im getting NO hits in the spring/summer
