So I want to upgrade this year from what I got. Its just a crappy tire rod. Looking to spend 250 maybe 300. Including fly line. More so to purchase in store not online so I can feel how it is in the hand before I purchase it. I would target Bass, Trout and steel with it. What should I get? The weight rod I have right now is a 8 I believe.

I'd go to natural sports, Kingsway , hook line and sinker or Wilson's .. They will help you out with matching a rod to what you need

Yeah I was thinking of going to natural sports buy lots of stuff from them.

if it were me, i'd be looking 7-8 wt, maybe a switch if the price is right, and I would be looking at ross, tfo and echo.  I can give personal experience with the ross rods, they are soft and allow for very easy casting and give a good backbone to land heavy fish and cast larger flies.

TFO, ECHO, Redington and Greys are all worth consideration. A 7wt will serve you well for those species, 9ft for sure, if not 9'6".

Just got Greys GR50 10ft 8wt. One of the lightes and best rods i ever had in my hands for $200.00 .Sage can not touch it. !!!!
