Hey guys, im back after a brutal winter of staring at my rod having it torture me and reading up all the tips and tricks I could find. Im back and ready to get my line wet.

Some of you may remember me I posted a bit last year. Last summer I really learned alot and have a good grasp on the grand river smallies in brantford

But with all the different kind of species in the grand and bass season still a whiles away I figure to learn how to catch some big cats and carp.
I dont really know what im doing in regards to these species.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Target them?? LOL!! Just bottom bounce a worm...you will end up with either cats or carp...if it's Carp...hang on!! Some of the bigger ones CAN spool you! I started targeting them last year and had to buy a new rig because I almost got spooled by a fish I never saw! Landed some last year and they all took me about 20 minutes plus to land because of how they fight. That was with an 8-1/2 foot rod and 40lb  braid...you have to give them some drag though or you WILL straighten hooks...lol...ask me how I know! Good luck! They are a lot of fun!

Oh...and yes...Carp can be VERY acrobatic!!

You dont have to go somewhere off into the sunset to get your fish. You live in Brantford go to brantfords wilkes dam, from what ive seen it is very promising lots of cats and a huge carp also some suckers, ( just beware the rocks). Go in the early morning get the best spot put on a good bait (worms) or effective setup for them. Pm for more input if you like or if you want to know about another carp goldmine nearby.

Well got out yesterday for the first time . The river was packed with people. Threw a worm on with a slip bobber and began to chill and sip my whiskey...next thing I know my rods skipping across the ground haha. I set the hook and the fight was on. Took me over 45 mins to bring this beast in . Took a pic put it on the scale. Says it was 10 1/2 pds. Only fish I caught that day but darn what a fight!!
