So we're buying a trailer.

Wife wants: Pool, lots of kids, fun environment, within about 1.5 hours of Oshawa.  Internet access available would be a bonus so she can put around on her laptop while the kids run around (Doesn't have to be included, just like to have the option for her).

I want: Walleye, perch, maybe some bass.  Stress free environment, so no stringent rules, I want to be able to sit around a fire at my lot, have a few beer and chat at midnight if I feel the urge.  Needs to be accessible, swimmable water for the kids and myself.  Preferably easy shore/dock fishing for when I want to have a couple of beer and can't take a boat out.  Must have a dock that I can rent a slot in for when I finally get a boat.

Park fees preferably in the 2-3000 range for the season and I don't want to move the trailer once it's there so it needs to stay there permanently as long as I pay the fees (no removing and storing during the winter).

Suggestions?

Lots of parks in the kawartha region.. Pm me if you want more info. My parents have a trailer on upper buckhorn for over 25 years now. The park they are in sounds like what you are looking for.. I believe it would take a little over an hour from Oshawa

Six Mile looks fantastic but it's about 2.5 hours from me.  That's too much travel for the family on a Friday night.  Kawartha is more what I was thinking but not sure which parks are decent and reasonably priced with good fishing.

kawarthas! plenty of great fishing, clear water thats nice to swim/boat in. and your not lake locked like many other parks. also make sure you do lots of investigation prior to signing up, some trailer parks are nothing but junk yards and old people bickering and bitching about everything.

Being around Oshawa you're probably familiar with Goreski's landing on Lake Scugog.

Otherwise, I would recommend Suni-Vale Resort but there are few kids and trailers there. It's a VERY small resort with only a few cottages and a small beach but it's on Rice Lake and a short boat ride to one of the the best beaches around.

if you're traveling on a friday night you're going to hit heavy heavy traffic heading north and east.....have you not seen the 401 on friday night in the summer?? a 1.5 hour trip turns into a 5 hour trip pretty quickly

What about taking Simcoe straight up past Port Perry towards the Kawarthas. Or highway 12 if you're heading straight up towards Muskoka.

You can also take some of the concession roads to the 35 instead of the 401.

I think 400 gets a lot nastier than the routes around here.

I drive from brantford to buckhorn almost every weekend from May to October.. 407 is the only way to take.. It's actually about 20-30 mins longer than the 401.. But who knows what the 401 will be like..407 then back roads to the 115..takes about 3 hours or so from brantford

I know I know people will say I'm crazy "you pay to use a hwy?!?"

Yes yes I will.. When I work a 9 hour Friday then decide to drive north at 4pm.. I'll spend the money not to sit in traffic on the 401
