I am going fishing this weekend on a lake that gets up to 80 feet deep and contains lakers. I just bought a boat and am excited to test it out. I have never fished for, caught or even seen a Lake Trout in my life, but would like to give it a shot this weekend.

I have a dipsy diver which I know will bring my bait down deep, and I have read up on a few rigs which include a 3 way swivel and a heavy weight. Does anyone else have any advice? Are they at the bottom of the lake in late August?

My boat has a fish finder which I need to learn how to use. I have also read about jigging for lakers but can't quite imagine how to do that at those depths.

Would love any advice. Thank you!

Trolling for them is the go to for me - Minnow and a deep heavy flashers or spinner on the end of it!
