Yeah well youngish. Just over 12". Good enough to scratch the itch. Chrome as hell. Fresh from the lake.

Most tribs have small runs already. But the bulk usually run late September first week of October. Then heavy though October to November.

But yeah some come in early. Usually Salmon, Browns then Steel is how it goes. But if they feel like it they run when they want. Never really know when they come in. But that's usually the time.

But also after salmon are in and start laying eggs they come in and eat em up. Bunch of jerks lol but that's how it goes.

Kit is right. it's Salmon  usually mixed in with browns. Browns come in maybe halfway the salmon runs. then steels but sometimes steels come in as soon as temperature drops to 10 or low. They're not really running yet but just after salmon eggs. that is why roe is the best bait during these times.

People never seem to realize it but IMO this is the best time of year for steelhead, no one targets them and they're quite aggressive. Nice one there Kit!

Roe wasn't doing to for me yesterday. Which was weird. Drifted it 10 times in the same spot that steel was then put on a bugger first drift it smacked it. Fish fought like a small salmon was pretty awesome. That's what I thought I had on. To begin with and I was so happy haha. Stupid boots. Haha.

yea i like that first sign of them too. nothing beats the energy they have right now. youll get 5 lb fish right now that fight harder then a 15 lb fish in the winter
