The reel doesn't catch fish.  An R-Type will catch more fish in the hands of a good angler than an Islander will in the hands of a hack.  If you know how to present a bait and read water the fish don't care what is on the end of your rod.  Sorry to disappoint all the equipment snobs out there, but that is the bottom line.

i argree completely! It all breaks down to basics, reading water, current flow, ideal fish hiding spots, presentation, but i gotta admit personally i think i would be more bad@$$ looking if i roll around with a zeppelin! LOL!!!! But i had to spend within my means so i got the reel which i think has a good value for the money without breaking my oh so almost empty pocket! LOL!!!!

Gwad dang it...this site can be a pain...but never had a line problem with the Rapala...getting caught in the spool.

Is very hard to have the right presentation with crap reel that doesn't unwind properly. My argument is, for 200 you can buy top of the line spinning reel. If you had to put so much effort and touching the spool to get the right presentation, might as well get a spinning reel that can be used on all spinning rod. At the end it is a wheel. Whole point of its use is natural presentation. You can catch same fish with spinning reel, why waste a penny on junk that has one use only and can't even perform it properly.

Agreed.  I would spend more money on a rod than a reel personally.  But it's basically a spool with line.  I mean if you have the money to afford higher end equipment it's fine, but I know seasoned steelheaders who fish cheaper centrepins who catch tons of fish.

never had problems with ours too bud! Remember, i have 3 rapala pins, my bro mans the rtype, the classic which i started pinning from, and the shift that i use more often now, never had issues with them all.

Buy whatever suits your needs, dont let other people tell you that you are either wasting your money with a low end reel or wasting it on a high end reel. We buy things that we see value in, If you see value in trying out centerpining on a used aventa you bought for 80$ or if you get into the sport with a kingpin zeppelin and feel its a reel you will fish for a long time then go ahead and do so. There will always be a point where you will want something more from your equipment, at the end of the day it is you fishing the reel not me not anyone else.

^^^ what he said. I bought my pin without doing any research or doing any reviews. I went to my local fishing store, picked up a few pins, spun them looked at them etc... Asked them for their opinions and went with the one I liked best. Rapala Classic drifter I think. On sale. Under 200 out the door.

Just go get one, you won't regret it(well probably lol). Stay within your budget and have fun with it

i spent 20 bucks on my reel lol i don't think you will have a problem with anything
