Never really targeted pike much in March, did not know they'd be so fat AFTER winter?

Yup, she was pregnant.
This will be my first time targeting them before pike season closes and I hope to target them again after opener.
From what I've been told, you get the bigger ones in the spring/winter and small ones in the summer.

Fat ones right now pump. Good job and good timing. Pikes are loading up before spawning. Harbourfront, Leslie spit, ashbridge's bay, Bluffs, if you can hit this spots and find open water. cast your plug. Good choice on the chartreuse color. that's ideal for foggy weather.

Awesome catch Pump, I'm really jealous!
I've also never targeted pike at this time of year but you have me interested, and I'm itching to try out some new gear.
Could any of you kindly share any spots in the Mississauga area that might be good for pike fishing at this time of year? I was thinking of trying the mouth of the credit but would be a bit of a shot in the dark. Don't need anything specific but just a point in the right direction would be helpful. Like I said, I don't have experience chasing pike at this time of year so any tips would be appreciated.
If I can get out an evening this week or perhaps on the weekend I will let you guys know how it goes, and of course share any learnings.
Thanks!

if you can find marinas around the area, that would be your best spots for pike. try minnow plugs. clown colors are ideal on overcasts and shiney ones during sunny. slow retrieves right now as pike are sluggish during this time and stalks. on the opener they're going to pretty much chase anything. but their sizes right now are good. after spawn, they're pretty much drop the weight but are more hungry.

And thanks Dilli for that tip. We tried on sunday and had no luck on the windy/sunny day.
I forgot all my shiny jerkbaits at home

Hey pump, you guys are on high park during family fishing day around June? your friend looks familiar. Perhaps a member of fishing ambassadors? I'm always there with my kids.

Yup, he's from TUFA and targeting pike is his specialty.
Just a heads up...this year High Park wont be hosting a Family Fishing Day Event.
The people there are denying permits this year so TUFA has plans for moving that event to another location.
