It only makes sense. Why would you even take a pic of your catch when you know you're not even allowed to fish for them. That something you can't really brag about.

May as well just have a video camera rolling. That way if you get an incidental OOS catch (hey, it happens), everyone can not only see it, but also see you returning it to the water immediately. You get to brag and look good all at once.

exactly my point. no matter how big the fish you caught if it's out of season...you can't really brag about it.

I always catch my biggest bass out of season, every year.  When they are on their beds, anything that comes near them gets hit.  I cast at a carp, boom, bass smashes it out of nowhere, doesn’t matter what fly.    Usually that spooks the carp anyways so I end up moving to a new spot every time it happens.  Then when bass season opens, all I catch is normal sized ones when I target them.  Being a fly angler, Its easy for me to take good care of the incidental out of season fish I catch.  I rarely even take them out of the water.  I just lip them under water and remove the hook with the other hand and always let them go close to their nest so that they will return to it.  Sort of sucks, cause man I catch some monsters in the spring.  That being said, when the bass are spawning, I take note of the locations of the beds and dont fish close to them until near season opener once they are gone.  They really become a nuisance fish when your a carp angler, isnt that ironic

We get them on late ice too and sometimes you have to set them on the ice to get the hook out. I use a go pro so i will get a photo capture of the ongoing action. Once its free i release it. I more appreciate the fish than i would say brag. Concerning peoples' sensitivities regarding fish hanldling, lets get a grip here people. We engage in an activity where we all intentionally injure fish with sharp hopks through their mouths and jaws in and out of season.Lets accept it for what it is and try to be respectful to the fish and get it back to its normal program asap.

If this 'no picture' rule is as strictly enforced as some claim, then I recently posted a video on this board of me doing something illegal, and I would do it again. The reason? Simple: Last year at Killarney PP I had an incidental catch of a lake trout, which are off limits in George Lake. But I know that the park wants information on lake trout in order to assess the status of the population. So instead of releasing it immediately I measured it, and held it up to my video camera to prove what it was. If I had a scale it would have been weighed as well. When I showed the park warden he wasn't in any mood to ticket me, instead he was almost ready to kiss me. He wanted that information! By the way, the trout in question was last seen swimming back toward the bottom of the lake, in apparently fine condition.

Dave I think the article is from the US, not Canada. 

 

This is not a law in Canada. 

 

Personally I think it's over board. I see nothing wrong with snapping a quick pick of an OOS fish if the camera is ready and it can be done efficiently.

The regs do say an OSS fish is to be released ASAP so taking a pic of an OOS fish is tech breaking the law, I guess I am giultyof it aswell. Btut in my eyes it takes realy arse hole of a CO to charge you with it. IMO

I'll admit i was guilty of posting a decent OOS bass catch. But only because its a local lake i fished and NEVER caught a bass that big there in 10 years. Needless to say, targeting pike brings a lot of unintentional bass strikes.
