Going camping with family up to Balsam Lake Prov. Park. How is fishing in the lake? Any recommendations?

Are you bringing a boat or stuck around the park?

From the park go straight across the peninsula and turn right. Follow the peninsula around the point so you've got the it between you and the park. Try around that side and around the small islands nearby. Cast along weed lines with white or yellow spinnerbaits or do some jigging. I always find nice bass around there and occasionally there's walleye. If you feel like travelling a bit further, the southern end of the lake called South Bay always has good fishing in my experience.

I'm heading up there tomorrow, will most likely be stuck on shore near the provincial park. Thinking about renting a canoe, any suggestions for that?

An acquaintance of mine pulled this beast out of Balsam this weekend. Hoping you folks had the same luck.
