Hello friends,

I am new to this forum and new to Ontario. I would like to spend a few days in northern ontario and my only goal is fishing in the rivers/creeks.

I do not like lake fishing, just in the fast cold creeks.

Please recommend a few spots, I live in Toronto, was thinking of North Bay, or anything that is within 3 hrs drive from Toronto.

Please help! I am interested in trout, but any other fish is ok!

Thank you

Asking for fishing spots is like asking a banker to buy you lunch.

With that being said, I can help you better determine your fishing holes:

First thing: Use maps! What I do is check bodies of water, and the species they contain, and do some general web searching regarding fishing in that area. Look for a major lake, and follow the rivers. It may take some days of hiking and not fishing as much as you'd like, but you'll be proud you found your own hole, and not fishing just where you find people.

Secondly: For new fisherman, don't get caught up in all the talk about gear just yet. There is some basic stuff you will need, which I won't go into as you sound like you are established.

Third thing: Keep your mind open to bodies of water closeby. More time in the car, means less time on the water. I learned this this year, as I used to drive far to fish in previous years. There is plenty of great fishing within 1 hour drive of Toronto.

Hope this helps. Feel free to pm me with any specific questions. I can help you with directions there. Tight lines!

Welcome to Ontario!
