My wife caught this little fish on the Nith River in New Hamburg and I'm wondering if its a Pike or a Musky. It appears to have stripes like a Musky, but I'm not sure if that's because it's so small and still developing spots.

Pretty sure there are only pike in the Nith. And the head looks very pikey. But that is definitely a really cool looking pattern. I've caught some up north that are just silvery on the sides. No visible white dots at all. And the fins on those ones tend to be very red as well.

not an expert but everything tells me pike. except that pattern is looking too vertical for the pike i'm used to seeing.

Im going with hybrid. People seem to be overlooking the tail pattern.

juvenile fish are harder to identify. I'll go with pike.

The tail pattern on every pike under 10 inches I've ever caught looks just like that

I would go with pike.

Might make a good Musky bait!
