Pretty excited over getting out this weekend in search of Chrome. Going to try some new spots and for me the first weekend with a pin. Bought some other stuff to compliment my supply andan I'm ready. Working tonight then a few hours sleep and then it's creek time for the kids and I.

You will like the rod for sure. I've never used the reel but I know a couple guys who love theirs. Good luck out there!

So I put the line on the reel and I'm disappointed. With no line on reel the spool fits amazing with very little gap. Put line on and there is over an 1/8" of Gap, line behind spool every cast. Reel will be going back and spinning reel will be put back in service. I'm pissed to say the least.

That doesn't sound right. Take the spool off and put it back on straight with the clicker disengaged. Maybe I don't understand the problem fully but if it had decent tolerances before line it's not gonna get worse by putting line on. Did you take the reel apart, push the spool down at an angle, etc?

Wish it was that simple. You can actually see the gap slowly form as line goes on spool. Makes absolutely zero sense but that's what's happening.

Take your money back and get a raven. Good reels for the money.

That's definitely not normal. Take it back for sure.

Take it back and get a new one. Are you sure you want to go with that model. I'm not a fan of the offset style.

Fishing ling changes tolerances?  That was a common problem on my okuma reels.  When casting, you have to guide the line back on the the spool.

Are you sure the spool adjustment knob is tight and the spool isn't moving back and forth? I'm assuming you would notice that.

I couldn't see how the gap between the spool and backplate would get wider with line on it.

Let us know the outcome.

I don't think this is a common problem, something doesn't sound right to me.

Sorry for you big guy.
That's why there's a return policy.
Hopefully not a sale item.
You might have to fight for a return.
Just raise your voice they hate customers hearing complaints. Lol
