Hey everyone. I am interested in purchasing my first real boat. I have done a little bit of research and I have come across a couple stumps.... haha see what i did there.

I am looking for any and everyone's input. The type of fishing i would be doing is mostly casting; not so much into trolling. I don't have any specific lakes in which i am fishing; just anything southern ontario. I am wondering if i should purchase a mod v or deep v boat for ontarios waters? and the two boats I am interested in are the Tracker 175 txw and the Lowe Stinger 175. Also wanting to know what size motor i should purchase with my boat?

Tracker aluminium is crafted poorly I have read from some forums. Is this the case?

What are the thoughts of the Lowe Stinger 175? And what other boats are good with some specs/price?

I have a kingfisher and am really happy with it. Its a welded boat. As for engine hp. Get the max allowed!! Ive had underpowered boats. Never again

Honestly though if you have it narrowed down to Tracker or Lowe, I would stay away from Tracker.

Rivets are better, airplanes are built with rivets to better handle turbulence

Both boat companies offer many great aspects to their designs. The final decision is really based more on what you want and what you are looking for in a boat, if one boat you have chosen has more things that peak your interest, that is probably the boat for you. Personally I would go with Lowe because of all the different designs and aspects of their boats, but the final decision is up to you and what you are looking for (size, design, price, etc.)

I live and fish on Lake Erie, which is choppy water most of the time. I have had 3 welded boats without any issues. At the moment I have a 2001 fisher 165 pro Avenger Tiller, and I love it. Fisher was made by Tracker at that time I believe. If you drive the boat reasonably I don't think you will have trouble with a welded boat of any brand, however if the hull takes a regular pounding I would only recommend a higher end Lund(pro v, Alaskan)! Even the cheaper boats in the Lund line cannot withstand pounding abuse from what Ive seen on Lake Erie. Welded aluminum boats of any brand are susceptible to cracking beside the welds due to welding creating hardening of the aluminum beside the weld. Riveted boats have no hardening issues, but do all leak after a certain amount of pounding. Good luck with whatever you decide!

We have 7 years on a lowe and have had no issues

I have 2 years on my alumacraft and love it

My buddy picked up a tracker last spring and has had complaints about ride and the hinges in the box.

I dont know, as long as it floats im a happy guy.

Tracker is not as bad as prople say but still not on par with Lowe or alumacraft. I had a legend for a de years and where I fish the waves where pretty goo and it was alwaya a pleasure to drive. I regrettable sold it. Good luck
