Question for you all, does anyone or has anyone used tippet rings or micro swivels on there fly gear???  Could you use a micro swivel on dry flies with out it causing them to sink??? I could see the benefit maybe for nymphs to help with line twist. But am curious to know the effect on dry flies. Lets say size 12-14-16-18 dries and nymphs.

Would love to hear some feed back on this topic, I have read on line about them but cant really find anything definitive about them ( swivels ) with dries. Do see people using tippet rings with dries though.

cheers.

Probably not the best for dries. I find even fluorocarbon tippet will sink em. I use micro swivel on monocore poly leaders tho

Thanks S4S, do you see it as a benefit for nymphs to help get them down instead of a piece of small shot?

Tippet rings for dry flies, just and a touch of floatant to  it...micro swivels for nymphs...both give you the luxury of adding the proper strength and length and type of tippet material,if you keep a tag end line off the micro swivel sometimes a good place to add shot
