Lake ontario water temp are at 35-43 these days. Is it too early to aim for Carp?

Give a google search to "winter carp tips", our friends across the pond fish them year round. Often with water temps hovering around 1-5C which is 33-41 (roughly )
I dont personally fish them but my carpin buddies have posted a few pictures so far this year
