As this is my first fall and spring steelhead fishing Lake Ontario tribs, what is the typical season that steelhead and salmon can be found in Lake O tribs.

After doing some research it appears to be from September to middle of May with salmon first and steelhead to follow. Was wondering what your experiences are.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Can basically confirm your research AJAK. Weather such as temps and rainfall does come into play as well though.

Yep sometimes the salmon run starts even into August depending on the season / weather conditions.

Typically the salmon die off by mid - late October then the trout start rolling in.

I saw one out east last May, sitting in the shallows. Missing big chunks of flesh and no tail. I wonder if there are spring run or if they stay all winter?

probably a very late runner in the early winter, some are just resilient and hang on.
