Just starting out trying to target trout, and I used to see them jumping at a river in the west end of Toronto. Every time I've gone this spring ~3 times since Apr 24, I haven't seen them jumping the dams. Some people have told me they haven't started yet because of the lack of snow/rain this year, but I have a feeling they've already finished, at least in Toronto. Should I try rivers outside the city instead? Or am I wrong in saying that they've already moved upstream?

They're mostly upstream by now but by next rain, they'll be pushing downstream back to the lake.

Oh, I didn't know that, I thought they died after spawning. Thanks

Salmon run in the fall in September - October and die after spawning. Trout run from October to May and return to the lake after spawning.
