Hello, want to try using jigheads and plastics, never done it before.  Don't have a boat, so it will be limited from shore.  Do people use bobbers with jigheads?  What's the recommended all-around jig size?  Also, I have a few slip-bobbers I can use---is there a special type of bobber that is more suitable for twitching jigheads that are cast from shore?

  • I usually use this method for panfish.

  • It all depends what species you're targeting

  • I think Thill sells a type of slip bobber that's weighted on the bottom to give it some weight and to keep it up right.  I could be wrong but you can use split shots to make your float cast farther.

Maybe use this for reference... size up if you want to target bigger fish.

I was fishing with natural worms, and the fish was biting... then I tried to put some plastic worms under the float -> 1-2 bites.. and no more bites.... I guess the fish can smell that it's not eatable..

Am I doing something wrong with plastic+float? Do you guys use some smell spray on the plastic?

A live worm siting under a bobber is going to have more action than a plastic one. However with the right plastic worm and some rod twitches on your end you can replicate and produce similar or greater action than that live worm can and potentially catch more fish.
