We went in July 17 and came out July 19th, just a couple of days portage trip into a back lakes to try for some Lakers.

Everyone said it was impossible in summer to be successful fishing for Lakers out of a canoe with no special equipment but I manged 5 Lakers this is one of the smallest and was just taken for proof because we rarely took a phone on the water with us.

Technique: Blue and silver or Green and silver little cleo.

The wind was perfect for a slow troll across the main basin of the lake all I had to do was steer and drift along a nice island chain but well enough out to be in deeper water.

Cast back and let it sink sink and keep sinking until it stops taking line and your on bottom, Half your line is now gone.

Close the bail and start the slowest troll possible.

When they hit your rod just bend right over and it doesn't spring back until you land it. One we thought was a snag until we turned around and it started it's run.

The best part was going back to the old school poor man fishing and using your knowledge to map a lake in the limited time you have after it took you forever to reach and your already exhausted from paddling because you've gone all soft with a boat and motor.
