Hi

I recently moved to Ontario and I am trying to find some good spots for trout fishing near Guelph. I prefer small creeks in more secluded areas. I found couple of fly fishing places (Whiteman Creek) but not much for spinning.

I think ppl will be very tight lipped about trout spots in that area.

I've seen photos of jaw dropping sized browns from locals. I never really targeted trout in that area though so can't help you out. Had too much fun with bass, pike, walleye.

You might need to do some bushwhacking, watch out for noxious weeds, fire ants and insects and good luck!

The Grand would be the obvious one. Loaded with browns every spring. And it's not necessarily fly fishing only, although that's the most accessible. Single barbless hooks and non-organic baits (spinners with single barbless) are A-OK. Just check the Wilson's maps that provide info on spots to start (Inverhaugh up to Fergus).

Otherwise, take a look at some maps and just google each of the rivers/streams you see. There are tons of MNR and Trout Unlimited surveys that provide info on what species are in each creek. It can take a while, but there's info to be found.
