Hi all, I live in Port Perry ontario, and this summer I am planning a week long trip into northern ontario (willing to go as far as thunder bay) to fish. I want drive my truck to a camp site and launch my boat (14 foot tinner),  "car camp" and fish for the 5 or so days and then return home. The issue is, what lake to go to? I want to target pike and bass, and I want to hit a lake without a ton of fishing pressure to maximize my chances of success. I also want to take this opportunity to get away from southern ontario into a remote northern area. preferably a lake without cottages. I have done lots of kawartha highlands and algonquin trips with varying levels of success. I want to guarantee the lake I'm going to has fish in it. If anyone has any lake recommendations, that would be stellar, as I want to set this trip's plan in stone as soon as possible so I can gather my gear, take the time off work and get to know the regulations of that zone.

Thanks in advance

I did the same thing two years back. I stayed here for cheap and the owner is very nice. I spent days doing different lakes and fishing his on a  few evenings.

It was just amazing fishing all over. We even meet an old couple on a side road when we were on a road we probably shouldn't be on who invited us in and let us fish there private lake for the afternoon.

A really different crowd up there. This year it's an east coast trip for me, 2 weeks 2 different lodges and one of those is a solo trip while she visits family that week. Hum visit her family or go on a trip solo? Hard choice that was.

Is that the resort by thessalon, ON? if so, looks like exactly what im looking for. but I want to keep a really strict budget for this trip and for that reason, I was hoping to pitch a tent instead of renting a cabin. Do they offer campsites there that I can park my truck and boat on? thanks for the information btw, looks amazing!

I think it was like 500 bucks for the week. It's not much and having a shower is worth it IMO. Thessalon yeah it's right near that. It's not 5 star but it's better than some French river rentals I've had over the years.

500 per person, or for the cabin as a whole? if its 500 for the cabin that pretty well priced id say. thanks again for the info! really getting the itch to fish now...
