^ that feeling in the air when you and ten other fishers are sitting around the river waiting for the Time to clock over to Saturday. The bbq beside the creek in the am cooking a few up. You guys on the big tribe may have better chances at bigger fish but the atmosphere of the small creek where only a few locals who know your secret spot is a wonderful feeling

I remember those days drinking and partying by the river with my squad, waiting for daylight to drift. Some of the brave ones would attempt right after midnight eager to get some Steel on. It was different back then , not too many people out and everyone seemed to respect each other and nature. Now a days sorry to say there is no such thing as "secret" spots anymore thanks to google earth and the dam population rising year after year. Good luck to all this opener and don't forget , respect your fellow angler and the creek or river you visit.

I don't get too excited for openers anymore. I take my kids to Huck Finn fishing derby for some stocked speckles. more fun than being shoulder to shoulder with fishers who are out for blood or roe. Too many people are getting too invested and tensions tend to be higher...One less angler (me) would be good for everyone. If you think about it, Some people would purchase licenses just for this opener and the salmon run and you won't see them fishing again until next year. Let them go at it.

Good old Meaford, my buddy say's the water level is low up there you can catch the trout with your bare hands. Lot of them are trapped in small pools and can't find there way to the spawning grounds.

I couldn't care less about trout opener. I've been fishing steelhead since February. The best fishing was over weeks ago. Now, it's time to get stoked for other species.

Have fun kids, and be polite to one another. Personally, I'll be chasing the biggest crappie of the year.

I'll be chasing big crappie as well on opener. I also always tell people that if they wait till trout opener to go steelhead fishing, they just missed the main run
