Atlantic Spadefish (Chaetodipterus faber) - not a new lifer, but always cool to catch. We helped George to finally knock this lifer off the list!
Leopard Searobin (Prionotus scitulus) - Species #714
Blacktip Shark (Carcharhinus limbatus) - Species #715!!!
Over two days of fishing, with a total of 16 hours fished and over 12km hiked, I lost three bigger Blacktips to the rocky reefs before finally landing this little 3 feet adolescent. Our flight was at 7:30am the next morning and this was literally the second last bait we can soak for these sharks on our very last evening in Florida.
Little guy got bitten by a larger shark in the recent past. I flip some of my pictures (ie, first photo above)...so the left side was the bitten side.

If they were to start a competition where you ad to try to stay on an ice auger, how many of you would enter if there were a decent about of prize money?
This video just about made me cry laughing.

Yes do not buy if you can not afford it. Don't forget you have to insure boa,t store it, winterize it, and maintenance is not cheap. Boat owner celebrates twice.
first time when they buy it and second time when they sell it.

#334505 Muskie or pike?
Posted by MuskieBait on 21 July 2016 - 05:48 PM
Musky, and hope you didn't keep it
In certain zones, that is considered a keeper Musky. It looks better than 40" and should be over most of the size limits for Musky.
But your sentiment is well taken. If you are uncertain of the species, the right course of action is to release the fish.

#334587 Microfishing IDs
Posted by DSmith on 29 July 2016 - 12:50 AM
Had a fun day of micro fishing in a local southern ontario creek. Caught about 10 different species using really tiny hooks. Caught the smallest fish I ever have caught. I realize some of these pics might not be good enough to ID.
Here's the album of some of them: http://imgur.com/a/VQbQ1
I am hoping some of you can help me with IDs.
Lets start with the ones I am sure about:
1. Longnose Dace
2.LogPerch
3.River Chub (90% confidence on this one)
4.the next two pics I am not sure what it is. As it turns out a lot of tiny fish really look alike! The photo tank is 4 inches long.
5. the next two pics I am guessing it is a very tiny spotfin shiner due to the very faint spot on its dorsal fin.
6.A tiny female creek chub(?) I thought maybe a blacknose dace when I was one site, but now looking at the pics, the mouth doesn't look right. This is definitely the tiniest fish I have ever caught.
Any insights would be appreciated!
thanks

Yup, just picked a bunch up at dollarama and broke down to purchase decent Mepps spinners . A lot of liquidation places selling fishing stuff too will have a look this week. Going to Pinehurst camping this weekend, LG mouth in that lake I've read!
