Honestly? Fish anywhere else. Erindale is a total circus and 99% of the fish you see hooked are snagged.

hi am been fishing in credit for 8 years now and i live walking distance at erindale park i dont agreed what u said if salmon got snagged they will release it and people start saying its snagged but some outsider or newbie yeah they snag salmon for taking picture make them look cool lol... and about the circus you said erindale park and credit river is popular and when people saw a hole bunch of people they will go there also to catch their 1st salmon of the season.. but if you like walking trying to find a hole with less people credit river is long people stay in particular hole like under the bridge. sorry for bad english

I totally agree with Symmetre.
Stay away from Credit.
Everyone stay away from the Credit.

whats wrong in credit? because its too crowded? cant catch fish? most of the people saying this is to keep the hole like they own the river lol  we the residence we will never say this.. credit is for everyone and must respect the law and nature.. thats why am offering my self as a guide in credit specially in erindale park to help our fellow fisher man...

My brother moved into a house a block away from erindale park and once he moves in,in a few weeks I'm gonna hit the river and try for some salmon.however I've never fished a river for salmon before so I was wondering what gear I should bring and what to use? I'm assuming to float roe or worms but I'm not sure, where to cast and what to look for in the water to locate the fish and also what time I should go at to avoid the hoard of anglers cuz I'll probably take a bit to get the hang of it

Pretty much just asking how to fish a river? :)

hi  chinook i live near in erindale also maybe we can go together this season i learn a lot in our forum so i cant tie some extra roe bag for you :)

I used to occasionally fish, but since my young son has really gotten interested in fishing I figured it would be a great way to spend time with him and a good excuse to not do housework!  I'm on here to learn and gain as much knowledge from  more experienced anglers.  Looking forward to learning from everyone here!

hi big daddy welcome to ontariofishingforum if you pass by in credit river with your son this salmon season this sept am glad to guide both of you in credit river catch your 1st salmon of the season enjoy your stay and we have more fellow members are pros to guide you also

In Topic: New to Fishing

Good day everyone,

I want to preface this by saying that I am new to fishing, but have found the experience remarkably enjoyable, and I'm learning more and more every day about this wonderful past time.

Being new to fishing, it was important for me to soak up information on fishing spots, seasons, spawns, etc. The issue here is that none of my friends or family fish at all, or at least pretend to fish (i.e. I was recommended to use chicken as bait from one of my family members for a fish he could not name).

I've so far fished in two spots: the Nottawasaga (5km from Wasaga Beach side) and Beaver River up in Thornbury. So far, my only catch has been one rainbow in Beaver River (using a spinner), which I then decided to release as a first ever catch ritual. It was one of the most thrilling experiences I've ever had in my life. It was a small, foot long trout, but according to my brother, I looked like I was about to cry.

I've heard of many people fishing the Credit or Humber, but I want to keep my fish. I know these rivers by in large have a catch and release policy, which really deters me.

If I could get some noob advice on where to look for Pike, Rainbow/Steelhead (yes, I know this debate exists), and possibly Chinook, I would be 50 years in your debt. I know their spawn times are around right now, but I have already lost my sources for which months to look for them. I want to make this hobby a past time and a way to bond with my brother. I live in Oak Ridges, and I can drive about two hours away. I don't have a boat, so I can't get into the lakes just yet. Maybe that'll come in the future.

1st of all welcome to ontariofishingforum if you planning to fish in credit river this salmon season am glad to bring you in all my favorite spot in credit river to catch your 1st salmon of the season :) i know each good spot in credit river if you want a guide just message me..   enjoy your stay in our forum :)
