Don't remember that post AK...would have been happy to contribute, though my intervention may not have placed you in better stead sorry to say. Alas, expect more of that here as the demographics shift.

Nice contributions from ya as always...gives us pause to consider other parts of this wonderful planet.

cheers

#288459 SUNNY-SIDE UP PLZZZZ...

Posted by ChaseChrome on 30 September 2013 - 09:02 PM

Frankly, I posed the question as something to consider, a principled approach that perhaps has a deeper philosophical resonance, rather than hyperventilating about "snagging," or waxing adversarial because one feels threatened...provide some reasoned argument please...

Legalizing pot is another example that would clear the the air for the anxious and befuddled populous (much praised by some here I'm sure...LOL)

Banning roe would leave no grey area...a simple ban...it has been posed before and discussed...time will tell gents...

grab a pin...grab a fly rod...lets fish

Raise what objections you will, but this is the reason fishing with roe should be banned outright...

We approach the access and this guy comes up from the river with a garbage bag loaded with about 40lbs of

THIS

He seems quite chuffed with himself...

the river below is littered with the gutted machines whose genetic fitness will never be expressed in countless generations

And so we're poorer again today

DONE and DONE

#287983 Introducing : Excalibur

Posted by ChaseChrome on 27 September 2013 - 08:39 PM

Excalibur is brand new and going into production shortly. My friend and a reputable reel designer - maker, who shall remain nameless at his request , have joined forces to create Excalibur . There is a five inch and 4 and three quarter inch size . Colours are silver , black and bronze . Here is a picture of the prototype , this a 5 inch .Prices are coming soon and both reel sizes are slated to be under 500 bucks.

These reels are individually and professionally hand made .

Wishing him luck on his new venture

#286757 FORUM RULES...New Members Read This First Please

Posted by ChaseChrome on 20 September 2013 - 06:18 PM

I'm Good with naming Rivers & Lakes. Even Portions thereof. IF that's what you're saying.

Example. Cooks Bay is a SMALL Part of Lake Simcoe. It's Apprx. 11 Miles Long and 4 Miles across at Keswick

Good Hunting!

Also. These rules apply ONLY to Trout and Salmon.

Forum Etiquette should be Expected and Given on ALL Forums

Thanks for your opinion...these rules apply to ALL fragile water systems...

There are many small lakes whose resident population of bass or other species can be threatened by over fishing...there are many examples

#285351 FORUM RULES...New Members Read This First Please

Posted by ChaseChrome on 14 September 2013 - 01:17 PM

To all new members: Please ensure you read these guidelines before asking questions and/or posting information about sensitive watersheds...your posts will be immediately deleted...

Steelhead and Salmon forum rules

  • Naming Rivers: The naming of any specific river or tributary is not permitted in the publicly viewable general discussion forum. Instead, please refer to the river by the general area it is located, ie “East Trib”, “West Trib”, “GB (Georgian Bay) Trib”, etc. For example, you are not allowed to say "I had a great day fishing yesterday on Wilmot Creek", instead, we encourage members to say "I had a great day fishing yesterday on an East Trib". The former statement should be relegated to the reports sections (coming soon), away from public view.
  • Lining Debate: "Lining", "snagging" or "flossing" fish is a hot-button topic that often ruins otherwise productive conversations. In order to keep the general discussion forum clean, helpful and productive, it is the policy of OFF that any and all "lining" conversation/debate be conducted in the "Salmonid Insanity" sub-forum.
  • Forum Etiquette: Simple - Be polite, keep it civil. All personal attacks, insults, inflammatory remarks, threats, racist remarks, trolling and otherwise rude and/or immature behaviour are strictly forbidden and will be met with disciplinary action up to and including permanent banning.

#283033 OFF MEMBERSHIP PROGRAM

Posted by ChaseChrome on 05 September 2013 - 07:37 PM

Not clear whether this is a capital generating venture...nor what practical function this will have by way of protecting fragile watersheds. Not a business guy and this is not my site so I will defer on the former. As for the latter, suffice to say that there are numerous other fora that openly discuss access to southern tribs...the exercise here then is moot and will effectively create a two-tiered forum. Not sure whether I subscribe to that. It might also be noted that a quick pm to those whome you trust to have good discretion has always been the best way of marshalling a group of such anglers to meet up for time on the water...although sharing information about fragile fisheries with those you "trust" to be discrete doesn't always work out either (human nature brothers and sisters).

It seems the system we have in place...a few strategic invites and pms is adequate...jmo

I will leave to far more profound and judicious minds than this one...
