#343025 Is highway 60 in Algonquin Park that Bad?

Posted by DILLIGAF?! on 22 January 2018 - 03:05 PM

I have only ever had a mouse go through camp and they are monsters, He couldn't care less we were there it was his path and he was taking it.

On the French I had a black bear no more than 10 ft away but he got spooked when he saw me. Nothing to worry about.

Oh the ones that are spooked sure...it's those others that won't be spooked....

Aren't there black bears you need to worry about rather than bugs?

#342384 Urban Fishing Student Film

Thanks for the invitation. I'm not sure if I can squeeze that in my schedule. I'm on the east end, and between work, family (3 kids, 1 with disability) and fishing...it's hard to keep promises.

#342100 Western Trib report - best day for me so far!

Posted by DILLIGAF?! on 26 September 2017 - 12:04 PM

And when you catch a fry there so fragile even though they swim off they probably wont make it far.

The fingerlings are fish you'll want around in a year or two so just leave them alone and up the size as tossing iron said or move on to bigger better fish.

sizing up your fly can be lethal to smaller fish. matching the hatch doesn't rely on appearance only size goes with it.  there will always be smaller rainbows and browns alongside salmon during this time. Everyone wants a record breaking fish...OP just seems happy to have caught one from a self made fly. I would be too if it works.

#342083 Survey

I've been salt water fishing since I was 7....started fresh water 8 years ago....salmon, stripping streamers. trout, night crawler.

steel, flies, roe bags beads...centerpin or fly fishing.

I can't say there's one particular offering that stands out, under right circumstance and time in the water. all of them work.

confidence is key.

#338089 Ice Conditions....

ice fishing on rivers...better know that river well...there is current under the ice. it maybe 4ft but those 3 feet of water can drag you under the ice,...take necessary precautions...if you think you have enough safety gear, bring more...it's never enough...ice fishing is fun...until it's not.

#336893 Which Centrepin to buy

Posted by DILLIGAF?! on 05 October 2016 - 10:24 AM

Consider that this setup is not cheap. You can have a fly starter gear cheap but not this. The cheapest reel I have tried was a type rapala and I didn't like it. Aventa is much better but I wasn't satisfied either. Also consider that the setup also helps your rig drift better. Not just your reel. You can have a kingpin reel but your Float, shotting ang offering are not in sync it won't matter.

#336234 Beyond ridiculous now

Posted by DILLIGAF?! on 14 September 2016 - 11:01 AM

Of course, but this is a flyshop in downtown Toronto! Who has time to go there every day? He did give me a great price on my Waders and boots though! I am happy to say I still have my receipt, manuals and box for my waders. When you buy something expensive, you have to take care of it!

Slightly off topic, but does anyone have a "wash process" for their waders? (certain soaps or methods that work best)

Lol that I haven't thought about, I just thought a dip in the river is wash enough....I do disinfect it before I use from time to time.

#335844 Local Pond Fishing, Keep Getting Skunked!

Posted by DILLIGAF?! on 01 September 2016 - 09:58 AM

No, there are bass here guaranteed. Just because they don't bite doesn't mean bass aren't in the pond. There have been bass caught there before (not by me of course) and you see their heads break the water one in a while.

In that case, you have enough tools now to get them. Lots of suggestions that works. Big O, Bandit, Senko and of course some offers to help you solve the mystery by inspecting the pond themselves.

#335084 Markham Pond Maps

Posted by DILLIGAF?! on 06 August 2016 - 11:27 PM

I regret to inform you... that this is the end... unless somebody has evidence that they beat my personal 11 inch LMB record, 11 inch Black Crappie record, 11.5 inch Catfish (I caught a bigger one but it flopped off lol, no measurement, doesn't count), 20 inch Carp record, or 27 inch trout record in Markham [MARKHAM ONLY], I will not be fishing much anymore... I have other things to do nowadays...

Sidenote: It's a length competition, not a mass competition. OFAH rules.

will a 17" SMB suffice? Milne Dam under McCowan Bridge....

Posted by DILLIGAF?! on 05 August 2016 - 01:08 PM

LordBass...your loss...you post to get recognized, not to help out members....you don't seem to know how forums work. People gather here to share knowledge, experience and learn...You came here asking for recognition....and cry when you didn't get any...I don't know how old you are but I've seen teenagers post from time to time that seems to act more mature than what you've shown in a couple of days...I'm too old for the schtick you're trying to pull...so I'm trying hard not to call you out so much.good luck.

I wish to contact an OFF Admin in regards to the rating system on OFF.  I received low rating and wish to know which members gave me a low rating if they are going to rate me.  Are these guests or actually members... According to my latest top 5 visitors.  They are all on good terms with me and we have shared fishing information.  I' am assuming the ratings come from guests accounts that don't contribute and just collect information.
