First Salmon Hunt

10 October 2012 - 03:19 PM

Due to some great tips from OFF my first Salmon hunt in Canada was not too bad I say... Thanks OFF

Many thanks to some great OFF members, MichealAngelo, Grubman, ALN, Triniboy and many others I meet in the waters.

My old man back home still doesn't believe you can catch these beasts with something simple as little ball of yarn...lol

Here are some pictures of many great catches and releases I would like to share

Oshawa

06 September 2012 - 01:47 PM

Went to Oshawa to try my luck after the rain...

Got there took a look around and the big smile came on. :)

They were everywhere and jumping, you could probably just scoop one with the net. For some dam reason they not biting through the whole time I was there.

On my way out ask the other fellas if they had any luck, the response was no with a frustrated look on their faces... One of them actually said the only thing worse was trying to get any action with his wife...lol :D

Meet two russians that could tell good jokes that woud make you laugh your ass off.... no fish but good day.

I guess somtimes fish come close to shore just to play with the fisherman for a change....

Oshawa Pier Report

25 August 2012 - 10:49 AM

Went out to the Oshawa pier last friday after work for a third attempt since the Tuesday had no luck at Port Hope. There was only four other fisherman out there and one boat strowlling up and down the channel.
Got there around 6:00 pm and it was very windy so I though it was a good sign and it might be the day to finally catch one.
About an hour later I see a fish jump out of the water and my heart races... oh boy! there is fish here.
Started casting far as I could and there it is another fish jumps out of the water could clearly see it was a huge one.
Casting at the end of the pier and still no action. Few minutes later they start jumping again inside the channel in the middle of the pier.
I moved to the middle and it begins again one jump, follow by a second and a third. One jumped just 10 feet from me... felt tempted to jump in the water and catch by hand...lol

Nigh fall and you can stll hear them jumping, but they were simply not biting.
Got frustrated late at night and decided to leave.

The fishes had a mind of their own and were only there to tease all the fisherman...lol

*May be its time to put away the thongs and try a different technique...lol (Blair)

Could any one explain why there were so many fish out there that day and not a single bite.
