Thanks for your help fishfreak, you are right about the beavers. Before it was a huge problem, but now most times its ok. I think they care now because of the atlantics. My friends and me clear the ladder whenever we see debris in there.

In Topic: How desperate have you been?

29 January 2016 - 10:01 AM

The other day I was desperate to spey fish. So I spent 3 hours in 32 degree water breaking tons of ice by jumping on it and kicking it. by the time it was good enough to swing flies in. It was dark and I had scared every fish in the pool twice over. Also I didn't wear ice studs so I had sit down and but scoot to travel on certain unbreakable patches. All this in very busy (for winter) G.T.A park . The next day it rained hard blew out then got freezing cold again. So more ice to break at the pool

Biggest jolt I've ever had was a bow hitting my skunk quick fish almost pulled the rod out of my hand.

Those killer hits is why I swing flies. If you're a gear guy swing spoons spinners or even a glossy shad!?

and you get those takes fairly often!

In Topic: Fly fishing with beads

usually when flyfishing the weight added above bead will tick bottom and the bead will tumble more, when floatfishing the last weight is suspended and the bead will ride just above bottom

I dont know much about float fishing, but this is a great point about indicator fly fishing ... In many nymphing setups, Its exactly like drift fishing/bottom bouncing/bobber dogging
