I had my first experience with steelheads in a tributary! You can probably imagine my excitement, I almost didn't sleep friday night thinking about it. First day was frustrating, I was the only one not fishing. Second day kinda the same. 3rd day I finally got some and 4th day was amazing, I had lot of action!! Fortunately I didn't have work until today so I had plenty of time to enjoy fishing.

The stockies are being dumped in in early May. You couldn't avoid catching those little guys if you tried. They're great fun on light equipment. Remember to pinch/file your barbs though.


I'll give it a try with my number 3 rod, and don't worry, I never use barbs for small fish.
