Totally depends on the water body.
I wouldn't eat anything from certain lakes.
Do your homework.

Homework on what? The cleanliness of the water you mean?

I mean they eat some nasty stuff and when they get big enough they start to look darn ugly and people still eat them , I didn't mean they taste bad, just saying that if a nasty bottom feeder that loves rotten chicken livers tastes good, creek chub might not be so bad !!!!

I would think they would taste like whitefish. People eat plenty fish that I think are more disgusting than chub. Catfish are just downright nasty and tons of people eat them. People eat zombie salmon for crying out loud !!!

In Topic: Poaching

I've seen plenty of poaching over the years. Ive come to the conclusion that they simply don't care, like any other criminal, its just part of their life. Ince a thief always a thief, once a poacher always a poacher kind of thing. Even after getting fines they'll find a way to poach. I know guys who have fished for years without liscences, they feel its their right to do so. Same with hunting, it goes on all the time, sometimes so severe its hard to wrap your head around. Ive heard from the MNR about guys getting caught with freezers full of fish and once saw an article about a guy who would sell deer meat, he had over 100 deer hanging in a big refrigerator, apple farmer I think he was.
Rat them out when you can, call them out when you can.

Nice are those stocked trouts? Hungry buggers will eat anything. Great to cook on an open flame with seasoning.
