dec 09 toronto harbourfront
yes it was cold but the sun warmed your face
ice was forming all day in the bays close to shore
areas that were not frozen at noon were at 5pm
conditions throughout the day were changing
sun to cloud...open water to hard water,,,zero wind to big gusts....still water to white caps
1pm sighted a male steelhead and tossed him the spinner i was pike fishing with
the spinner was a yellow large paperclip spinner...surprised that the trout followed it patiently
i walked the boardwalk with the trout obediently following the lure....then it struck..i loved watching this...first a hard bite...release then a nip
the trout circled followed again....eventually i spooked him.
found him again and he followed again...i elicited a hard strike and set the hook....i lost him 5-6 seconds later...hook did not set well
its hard to set the hook with ice covered braided line and ice filled rod guides
found another trout later...followed a purple spinner for 4 minutes ...appeared to attack it several times but did not inhale it....
no trout caught and landed
but lots of fun to be had
on dec 07 i battled a pike for 6 minutes...on and off the hook...i keep losing them but i also keep finding them
i gotta just fine tune my game...i fix one weakness of my presentation only to make a mistake i know better about.
but i love it.
